Baking in Blender

An exploration in Blender modeling and toon shading.
Task:
Create a 3D model based on a stylized reference illustration.

Blender

Problem

I wanted to familiarize myself with Blender and its capabilities, so I set out to recreate an illustration by annadotpng.

Process

I started by choosing a reference illustration, as well as blocking out the basic shapes in Blender.

Modelling the Details

As I became confident with the basic shapes of the cake, I began to model the cream dots, orange slices, as well as the alternating layers of sponge cake and cream.

Shading

When I was happy with the 3D model of the cake, I began to explore shaders within Blender.
