Tools:
Figma, Webflow, HTML, CSS, a LOT of patience

Problem

With our graduation looming around the corner, it was time to assemble our team of talented young designers to create the best grad show there ever was! There's only one slight problem... How do you you get 60 designers to all see eye to eye?

Process

The simple answer is that, you don’t. The other simple answer is that you find a way to agree to disagree. So our first course of action as a class was to split ourselves into groups. The web team ended up with 6 members. At first, it seemed like a lot of work, but less heads also meant less arguments so we quickly started to delegate our tasks before we got off on the wrong foot!

Knowing your Team is the Key to Success

As my classmates and started discussing our past web experience, I realized that I was the only one that had knowledge and experience in content management (CMS) as I had grown up fiddling around with Wordpress. Although our program of choice Webflow, there were lots of similarities when it came to inputting data. Therefore, I was entrusted with gathering, formatting, and inputting all 60 of the student profiles.

When it come to Coding, Always Follow Murphy's Law!

As our graduation approached, we were running into issues in all areas. We had disagreements in deadlines, designs, deliverables, as well as member expectations. The bugs we were experiencing in Webflow certainly added to the stress! By the end, we were left with a whole list of fixes the week before the show and a 2 woman team! As Kiersten designed the missing pages, I took the lead on fixing the visual glitches and getting the JavaScript functioms working.

Although we had our debates, Kiersten was such an amazing team lead. Working with her really taught me how to pivot around unexpected challenges. She had a completely different work style that wasn't initially compatible with mine, but once we sat down to lock in our goals and expectations, she became the best partner I've ever worked with. Go girls!
